Valerie With Harley
I think of Harley as Valerie’s ‘Mental Health’ dog. Valerie has serious emotional problems as a result of the severe abuse she was subjected to throughout her childhood. Harley is a much needed source of unconditional love for her, and she considers him to be an important part of her therapy.
Valerie’s therapist agrees that Harley is important. When Valerie moved into an apartment with a ‘no pets’ policy, the therapist wrote a letter to the landlord explaining that Harley is an important part of her therapy. The landlord allowed Valerie to keep Harley.
